Big Brother Over The Top Confirmed For Fall 2016

Get ready Big Brother fans because another season of Big Brother is just around the corner - literally! CBS announced today that Big Brother Over The Top will air this fall, exclusively on CBS All Access.

Last week we posted about a rumor that a season of Big Brother would air this fall after Reality Blurred broke the story. However today it was confirmed through an article from The Hollywood Reporter.

THR reports that, "Season 19 BBOTT will run 10 weeks, slightly shorter than a normal season. The new season will come not long after the season-18 finale, which is slated for Sept. 21."

The new season will still be produced by the same company, and we will get a whole new batch of houseguests, it just won't air on television - only will be on CBS All Access, which you can subscribe to for $5.99 a month.

THR also reports that Big Brother Over The Top's shift to All Access won't be a permanent one for the franchise, "It will be an expansion of the franchise and will not replace the annual summer season of Big Brother, which will continue to air on the flagship CBS network, according to a knowledgeable source. "

The move comes after CBS making a shift to develop original content just for CBS All Access. CBS has already announced two highly anticipated original scripted series for 2017 - Bryan Fuller's Star Trek: Discovery and The Good Wife spinoff headlined by Christine Baranski.

This will be only the second time the series has aired outside of it's summer time slot. The other time was Big Brother 9 in February 2008 because of the writers strike.

The announcement leaves a lot of questions unanswered such as; When does BBOTT premiere? Will Julie Chen host? Will there be Live Feeds? all of those questions will be answered in time.

For now, I suggest getting your CBS All Access subscription through us and make sure you're following us on Facebook and Twitter for any breakings news regarding Big Brother Over The Top.

UPDATE: CBS official confirmed today (8/3) that Big Brother Over The Top is a go! The official press release offered very few details but did confirmed that Julie Chen would "be part of the digital edition". All though very little is known yet, the press release did mentioned that, "additional details for CBS All Access’s new digital edition of Big Brother will be announced at a later date." In addition, casting is open! Check out BigBrotherCasting.TV for more details on how to apply.

Correction: An earlier version of this article mistakenly called Big Brother Over The Top, Big Brother 19. At the time of this article being written, CBS had yet to announce the official name of the online-exclusive season. We apologize for any confusion, the error has been correct. Big Brother 19 will air during summer 2017, while Big Brother Over The Top will air online fall 2016.
